[olug] Instant Messages/Chat

What type of chat clients do most of the folks on the
list use?  

I've tried to ./configure Gabber to no luck.  And I
have been using .tgz files, but it seems that during
the ./configure part, there is always a dependency
issue and so on and so forth.  I go out and get that
file, and then there is another dependency issue.  

The funny thing is that I went out and installed the
Linux AIM rpm and it installed without missing a beat,
but I don't believe that it would work with IRC,
Yahoo, and another other IMs besides  AIM.  

So what type of IMs are OLUG folks using on their
Linux machines and is anyone here using Gabber
w/Gnome?  If so could they give me some advise so I
could get that up and runnin'
