It is my understanding that the even/odd rule only applies to the
revision number as in vv.rr.mm. This means that any of the 2.2.mm sources
were considered stable (likewise 2.0.mm and 2.4.mm). The unstable
releases were the 2.1.mm and 2.3.mm (as well as 2.5.mm when that series
starts up). ---Jay
