I'm not entirely sure here but it sounds like you have some type of
Linux install medium on CD. Why not try setting your computer to boot
off the CD and install from there? Unless your bios is old and can't
handle the 20G drive I doubt that you needed the EZ-bios upgrade. Is
there any way to reverse the bios upgrade? You could try that and see
if your "boot from floppy" selection becomes active again.
