Thanks all who replied. I will try to answer the questions to the best of my knowledge.
Mike it is a ISA card and I disabled PNP on the card not the BIOS based on some reading but I did not see any change except that I was getting a warning on my sound card but when I disabled it on the NIC the sound card cleared up ( go figure).
Jon I will check the modules.conf thanks.
Dave as I said above I disabled it because of some reading (sometimes that gets me in trouble ) but it made no difference abled or disabled.
Mat I will look at that too thanks.
Thank also to all others with comments on things to watch for and be aware of. I will let you all know when I can use email with out having to reboot into W98 :)

Is it an ISA card?
Why did you disable PNP?

Subject: [olug] eth0 question
I just installed RH 7.0 and have sound card and printer working fine.
But on load it says Starting eth0 then says Delaying eth0 and fails.
It is a EtherEZ SMC8416T card and from DOS screen I did run utility to disable the PNP.
Any ideas on either problem would be appreciated. I am running a generic 166 with 64meg ram and 15G HD.
Thank Tom
