  the full address is mail.<something>.ne.home.com

  look at your sign up sheet and you're attached to a particular node - for example omhaw1, omhas1,
etc - substitute that for the <something> above and your email will work. For that matter you could
just put mail.omhas1.ne.home.com and that should work as well.

add 'search omhas1.ne.home.com' to /etc/resolv.conf and that should work, too
