Has The Student Technology Fee Been Used to Date? </b></font></p>

fee has provided numerous technological advancements that serve the students
on the UNOmaha campus. </font><br>
<p><font size='2' face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'>The Student
Tech Fee has gone towards the following: (not an inclusive list)<br>
<br>
• Student computer labs receive new computers every three years
- this is the primary use as it was presented to the Board of Regents.<br>
• Variety of software licenses such as: Microsoft on campus usage,
statistical packages, Autocad.<br>
• Traditional classrooms converted to technology classrooms have
increased from 12 to 53.<br>
• Network Infrastructure, such as expanded bandwidth (increased
speed) of the network. <br>
• Sampling of Technology Grants awarded over the last 2 years include:
Library Computer Classroom, Automated Lighting System (Fine Arts), GLIMS
Regional Center (Geography, College of Education and Information Sciences
& Technology), Mobile Wireless Classroom (College of Ed), Media
Technology Classroom (Communications, Fine Arts and Information Sciences
& Technology), Biology, Psychology, and CPACS computer classrooms,
Broadcasting and TV Production equipment (College of Arts & Sciences).

These advancements contributed to UNOmaha being ranked in Yahoo's top
100 wired campuses this year. We are ranked 83rd ahead of Michigan State,
Texas A&M, Baylor University, and Notre Dame. </font> </p>

has the opportunity to sign a yearly contract to supply all students
with Microsoft Office products. The <b>$140,000 cost of the contract
will require an increase in Student Technology fee of $1.00 per credit
hour</b>. For a student taking 12 credit hours during a fall and spring
semester the cost is $24.00 plus the cost of cd's.</font></p>
<p><font size='2' face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'><b>Important
Note:</b> We must sign this agreement by August 2002 to ensure the current
rate. The price for a yearly contract after August 2002 will increase
by <b>40%</b> due to a change in how Microsoft licenses software.</font></p>
