You will want to add more RAM for FreeNAS.  It isn't expensive.  I was running similar setups with 16GB of RAM.  These are awesome for the money.  I want to buy them but I already have a some..... It would be cool to set up media archives on them that when accessed from an index it would automatically fire off a WOL packet or something that powered up change a power state on the NAS that stored the media.  For example lets say I wanted to watch an episode of Air Wolf.  It could then spinup the drives on the NAS it was stored on.  ......I want to have a lot of storage but I don't want to keep a lot of 1TB drives spinning 24/7 in my home.     I have 2, 200 dvd burner/changers juke boxes that do this.  A while back I considered swapping the optics assemblies out with some I have left over from PS3 repairs so I could use bluray storage..... but a couple of cheap 1TB X 12 drive arrays in RAIDZ2 seems more practical.On Apr 22, 2016 12:36 PM, Marc M <marcmdm2005 at gmail.com> wrote:
