[olug] Xymon questions...

I'm looking at replacing a dispersed and aging Big Brother monitoring
system as part of the upcoming budge cycle. From an ease of transition
standpoint, Xymon looks to be the clearest path, but even it has some
configuration differences so it wouldn't be a drop-in replacement...

My current BB environment has a dozen BB servers (of all ages) and nearly
6000 systems reporting in. There are sites that have multiple BB servers
in the same data centers, but for the most part many of them are scattered
to the wind in the smaller data centers, too.

So, here are my questions:
 * Are there any pointers to sizing the Xymon servers that receive the
data? What is required to collect and process the incoming data from 6000
servers?
 * How compatible are the BB client scripts with the Xymon agent and/or
server?
 * Has anyone setup one of the "HA-WAN approach" options (
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/System_Monitoring_with_Xymon/Administration_Guide#HA-WAN_approach)
and can talk through some concerns/questions?

Thanks!

Dan
