It's postmaster day.....

My wife's business has an application that will email reports to her clients.   
The application demands the SMTP host (smarthost.coxmail.com for Cox business 
clients) and a user name and password.   

Cox does not send the mail if authentication is sent.   Vendor, when told of 
Cox's policy, describes it as "1990's technology".  I suppose I could dummy up 
a postfix smarthost.  Gah.
