How about renaming the Thunderbird binary to thunderbird-bin.exe, then
making a thunderbird.bat that run the EXE, then performs a deltree on the
directory that has the cache in it?

If that's not secure enough, how about installing TrueCrypt and making a
small volume to hold your thunderbird cache files?
