[olug] Remote Droid

I know that from my Sony phone it's possible to remotely control the
computer via bluetooth in Linux. The stuff I use is special for Sony
Erricson phones and is supported by default for Gnome, but there are
java applets for Java-enabled phones that can be used in conjunction
with system daemons for remote control.

Now Android systems can't use any of that since they have their own
Android-specific thing going on, but I expect that similar functionality
for them exist. Just google around.

But if you want to access your computer from over the internet and launch
commands and such... then why not just use SSH? That would probably be
the easiest way to do it, if not terribly slick. I don't know how Kolab
works, but if you write a wrapper script to reduce the amount of typing
you have to do and have it send email notifications to you about job
statuses and such then I figure that would be the easy way out.
