i liked AT&T when i had them, but that was in TX and DC.

If one had to, they could build a GSM/CDMA repeater.  Googling GSM
Repeater DIY, The following one claims it can boost over a 3000 sq
meter area .

Then the femtocell diy asterisk projects.

AT&T at least uses an open standard that you can utilize your own
hardware - i just wish they didn't charge so much for data plans.
