`sudo -i` as suggested above should also do the trick and is a more
appropriate solution probably.
At home on the mythbuntu box... on the rare occaision I need a root shell I
keep forgetting `su` to root is disabled and always infuriates me cause I
keep thinking I forgot the password hehehe.

In days long ago I had to single-user my ancient slackware 3.x installs
on occasion... so.. being one of the first things I had to learn, it's stuck
with me.  Always handy when breaking into someone else's box, too ;)
