[olug] Media management software

Hey all,

I attend a large church that's trying to get a handle on all the A/V
media currently stored on its network. The I.T. guy tells me he
currently has about 150,000 images scattered across his network in
a very unmanageable fashion. We've also got a new group of photographers
in the church that are starting to produce a library of stock images
for the church, and we'd like a way to manage off-site submissions
and in-house searching of those as well. I haven't heard for sure,
but it wouldn't surprise me if they want to store audio & video files
along with the photos.

Unbeknownst to the IT guy, the church signed up for a Box.net setup,
but that's mainly just for generic file sharing and group collaboration,
and doesn't really address the above needs.

The photographers are non-staff and would be working off site, so
protected HTTPS access is a must. Photos typically get tagged inside
the JPEG file by the photographer before the file is uploaded, so the
search functionality of this system must be able to query such tags
(perhaps only once at upload time). Files should also be taggable
through the web interface. Searching on image dimensions would also
be helpful, because printing & web posting require vastly different
image quality.

Do any of you know of any good software (regardless of platform) that
would help bring all of this into a manageable framework? Would
Drupal or something similar help?
