cat /proc/cpuinfo will show you if your CPU supports SSE instructions.

nano (or vi or whatever text editor you prefer) to open up /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Driver "nvidia" -> change to -> Driver "nv"

I'm assuming the distro has the nv driver installed.
