Early in the year, my boss (who has 15 years on me) made mention of how he's
seen both houses and Presidency controlled by the same party twice in his
life -- and neither time it turned out good.

I believe there's some truth in this. Without that whole 'balance' thing, I
can easily see things getting fubar'd.... no matter which party was in
control.

As far as the recent Democratic performance, I'd say it's about on par with
the whole '100 day contract with America' the Republicans tried to pull
about a decade ago. Serious flop.

I'd venture that the incumbent congressmen should be very fearful of their
seats over the next election or two.... simply with the handling of the 700B
bailout thing. Agree with it or not, I'd say just about any twit that added
a rider to it needs to be dragged into the street and shot. How on earth
can you take a 3-6 page emergency piece of legislation and turn it into a
600 page christmas tree is beyond me. Shot, yes yes. To kill, maybe not.
But grievous bodily harm needs to occur, none the less... in my not so
humble opinion :).
