[olug] [OT] Small Office Switch Recomendation

Before we (Millard Public Schools) started buying 3Com switches, we talked to Metro Community College about the HP ProCurve switches. Since we are an HP shop for computers, they had our ear for the switches. MCC had a lot of problems with the switches not performing what was needed (I think they were billed as Layer 3 switches but the Layer 3 stuff never worked right). HP ended up replacing all the switches with a different model that functioned better but...

This is 4 year old knowledge from a person that worked there during that time. I am sure HP has fixed things but personally, I am not willing to put my customer on the "should work" line. HP has NEVER come back to us pitching their switches again since that time also...makes me wonder if they did fix anything.

Craig - can you elaborate regarding your "seeing what MCC went through
with HP" statement?
