[olug] Ubuntu 8.10 RC X.Org Resolution problems

* *I tried the Nvidia beta drivers, but I just got fed up. I was finally
able to get 1024x768 resolution, (My native is 1440x900). If it had worked
I would have been happy, but it was unstable and would cause x to restart
about every 20 minutes. There were a lot of problems with strange artifacts
on the screen or missing text that would show after I moused over an area.
In the end, I maybe could have fixed some of it, but it just wasn't worth
that much hassle. I am trying OpenSUSE, which is beautiful, but so far
very, very sluggish, so we will see what there is to see. Wish me luck as I
continue to blunder blindly into this little Linux experiment. I am going
to try to use it more and more for daily use, but, most of my data is on the
windows box for now. (bigger HDD)
