Yes, and that's a 4-year-old article.

Fedora's ability to map 4GB was provided by the 4g4g patch, and was a
non-standard feature - IIRC Fedora was the only distro to include that
patch. That patch was dropped by Fedora a very very long time ago - back
in 2005 I believe.

*Any* current 32-bit Linux install will have a 3G/1G split.
