[olug] Best Linux media center program

the linux port for XBMC (as well as the windows port) is mostly for
debugging (python, etc.).
at least, that's my understanding.

a 1.6xbox is actually easier for me to do than a 1.0, since i have these
handy Mobo rebuild PCB's that lay right down on the back of the board. I
must admit that i have botched one mod of the last 30 or so that i've done.
i was able to fix withing 10 minutes or so.

keep in mind, i've done a whole lot of these, so it's not even a challenge
anymore.
what i'd really like to do is teach other people how to do it.

i can install the mod chip for you if the install is a concern, and you
don't have to worry about it not playing games.
in fact, you can back the game up on the HD, and never take the disc out of
the case again.

there is a way to set the modchip to bypass by turning on with the eject
button rather than the power button.
as long as your HD is locked, and you leave the retail software on the
proper partitions (untampered), then theoretically you should have no
problem playing online. i use X-link (teamxlink.co.uk) to play xbox online,
and they do not punish you for having your box modded.

i can give you guys good prices on everything, just tell me what you want.
i sell the completed product for 250 (lots of homebrew software included).
you also get a paint job, dual bios modchip, a HD LED, a network LED, port
LED's, and a 250GB HD.

you can save yourself some money by just having me help you with the part
that scares you (soldering usually), then do the rest yourself.

as far as prices, just ask.
if you've got the xbox and HD, i'll set you up for a very good deal.
i get the chips for 15 bucks, and i install them for 25.
once the mod is done, it's a matter of formatting the partitions and pulling
the software onto the HD via SaMBa or FTP.

if you've had one of these, you are really missing out.
i've tried to tell you guys before.
hopefully this doesn't once again fall on deaf ears.
BTW:
don't ask me to pirate xbox games for you. i don't roll like that.
the game copy software if for FAIR USE ONLY.
i will not help you steal, but i'll show you how to back up your hard earned
software to a more reliable medium.

drop a line if you want the future of entertainment in your hands.

WARNING: you may find it hard to leave the couch for a month or two,
especially with an internet connection!
