Ok, I am buying a new phone for myself and the misses. I am looking at
the Motorola v9m for me and I see that it is based on Linux (good thing)
but I am wanting to be able to have my gmail application on my phone
like a I do on my blackberry. Now, there is no "click here to install
gmail to your phone model XX" on their site BUT they say that if your
phone has a JVM or you can GET a JVM on it, then the gmail app will run.

I have not had a lot of luck finding that answer and the "lady" at the
Verizon store was not real helpful but I expected that. I am turning to
the Guru's here for a pointer to a website to verify/debunk my theory
that I can get or that the phone already has a JVM on it.

I am still looking but any help is appreciated!!
