[olug] Wireless natworking with Netgear router

Hi all.

I'm branching out of my comfort zone again and trying to set up a home
wireless network. The problem that I'm experiencing is trying to get my
wireless access card to recognize the fact that there is a wireless net
work. So far it doesn't seem to be picking up any signal what so ever.
(The card works fine in another setting so I don't think there's a
problem with the card -- it's probably the user!!) The router is showing
that it is putting out a signal so it's probably a misconfiguration
issue. My problem is trying to figure out where the misconfiguration
is.

Here's the setup:

Netgear WGR614 v6 54 Mbps router
Netgear wireless PCMCIA WG511T 108 Mbps card in a laptop running Ubuntu
5.10

I'm wired to the router with a desktop that is also running Ubuntu 5.10
(Breezy). I can get to the basic settings web page on the router with
firefox and change settings.

I've made sure that the SSID's are the same for both and was trying to
experiment with the WEP settings which is now disabled in both.

If I don't get it set up before Tuesday evening Jay may get a visit from
me!!

Thanks for any assistance!

Don K.
