[olug] SATA RAID

I would avoid the retail Adaptec RAID cards. While Dell does use
Adaptec-based cards in their servers, they are better supported under
Linux than the retail cards.

Adaptec really does a poor job of supporting non-Windows operating
systems. Dell engineers are the only reason why their Adaptec-based
cards even work under Linux!

If you didn't need RAID6 I would heartily recommend the LSI Logic
MegaRAID SATA 300-8X. I've had much better experience with LSI Logic
controllers than I've had with Adaptec.

Unfortunately it appears that the Adaptec cards are the only ones that
support RAID6. LSI Logic doesn't currently support it, and it appears
that the new 3ware 9550SX doesn't either.

Would a SCSI-attached storage system like this one
(http://www.acnc.com/02_01_jetstor_sata_412s.html) or this one
(http://www.acnc.com/02_01_jetstor_sata_408s.html) work?
