As for #1. Make sure you have the right VERSION of smart start
otherwise all is for not. What version of array card is it? What
server did it come out of (if you know)?

I have a new system i put together, and I am having some real bonified
issues that I've never had to deal with.

#1 Got a compaq smart array scsi/raid controller..It shows up before
boot, but there is not a preOS utility to go into like my old promise
controller did, so i researched and theres a iso file called "smart
start" so i burned the iso using the nero burner on my roomates XP
machine the normal way, just like my linux isos. I get a "disk boot
failure" hmmm....

#2 I also have a new 200GB maxtor ata133 drive that i took outta my
other linux machine and repartitioned it and formated using reiser and
did a slackware install(10.1 nice!!), lilo wouldnt go in automaticly for
some reason, it usually does, so I manually did it and went to boot from
HD and no go, so i booted from cd and couldnt find a kernel.
I tried Vector Linux and vector didnt even see the hard drive
after install, so i checked master/slave/CS pins, its on master, ide
cables have been swapped, and some old song.

I dont understand wft is going on with this... I'm gonna step away for
a couple days and come back to it.

Anyone have experience with "smart start"?
How do i run an OS on these scsi drives?
