What scared me about the whole thing is that I read "Netgear switch" right before I read "two DS3's".  Someone has their priorities screwed up.

Agreed.  And half the junk that has Auto-MDIX, well, it really doesn't work.  At least, I know for a fact that even if you connect a ethernet cable to a Auto-MDIX on a CheapLinksys switch, and the other end to a port on a Cat 2924, well, it don't work :).
