[olug] ASUS and Linux

Front-line techs can be beyond annoying with regards to any other OS *but* Windows. For example, Qwest.

Our offsite office recently was blessed with a 1536/896 Qwest DSL. I chose Qwest.net as an ISP to take advantage of a special, after which I will switch it to our ISP of choice (Internet Nebraska). Well, when the DSL was supposed to be "up" there was nothing. Probably just an issue with the DSLAM, as it wasn't training at all.

I call Qwest. Long story short, I AM AN EDIOT and when they asked what kind of machine was plugged into it I said "well, currently only an OpenBSD box". That prompted the tech to *damn near* hang up on me, and chide me.

Whoa boy did I ever let his boss have it.

They insisted, *demanded* that the problem was the OpenBSD box. Nevermind that I had no ADSL link, and that the ethernet network was fine (I could ping the switch from the Obsd box and vice versa), they *insisted* that I use a Windows box to run their retarded software to troubleshoot it.

Long story short, they had forgotten to plug the line into the correct port at the CO.

Idiots.
