[olug] linux boot and dd drive?

I have access to Ghost and experience with it but I was open to other ideas in the open source arena.  I am ALWAYS looking to the open source world for answers to my questions if at all possible.  I want to thank EVERYONE for their inputs/ideas/links!  I will post to everyone what I find that works best for me.  Thanx again!!

why can't you just use a linux boot floppy/cdrom, with scripts to copy the
image file off the network and dd it to the drive?  do you have to use
ghost?
