As long as you don't need to boot the resulting system ;)  With Win9x 
you can do "sys c:" first and pray your restore doesn't overwrite the 
ever important io.sys, msdos.sys and command.com.  NT4/2k/XP are a whole 
other question that I don't have an answer for.

Ghost and PQDI do this all for you.
