[olug] New laptop won't boot (USB 2.0 problem)

I was mistaken; it's a IDE hard disk...Mine was dying when it was trying to
load the USB 2.0 module at startup (USB 1.0 loaded fine) and is totally
unrelated to the hard drive.

I passed the "nousb" parameter to the kernel in GRUB and it booted fine. I
disabled the ehci-hcd.o module in modules.conf and rebooted without the
additional kernel parameter and it works great.

I haven't found a module for the WL200 card yet, although I haven't really
had time to research it much.

Did you get the Advanced Port Replicator with yours?

I have that same laptop with RH8.0 running on it fine. In fact, it is
dual boot with Win2k. Let me know what you would like me to look at and
I will tell what I find.
BTW. Did you get the integrated Compaq WL200 wireless card with yours?
I have yet to figure out how to make the wireless work...have not put a
lot of time into it anyway...
