[olug] Printers and Linux compatibility

Somebody on this list was active in that hpoj development but I don't
remember who.  I personally gave up on Cups for local printing support.
 The documentation was not up to par for me.  LPRng on the other hand,
I didn't even really need to read much documentation.  Just enough to
find the lprngtool command.  

Using a paid for print driver I got my Canon to work in Linux. 
Printers with PostScript support are a must for network printing.  It
simplifies printer isntallation.  I might not even worry about CUPS or
LPRng support and instead just say PostScript support.  If it supports
PostScript then there isn't a need to for a specific driver.

What does everybody else think about just specifing PS support?
