Yes, this is wrong. Let me refer to the OLUG FAQ, at:
http://www.olug.org/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=1&categories=OLUG
How do I submit articles for the website?
Just click submit and type in your submission. If its a good article that
affects OLUG members, we'll post it. If its a blatant advertisement,
please send checks to Brian Roberson and Adam Haeder for a minimum of $100
each and we'll consider posting it (translation: OLUG isnt here for free
advertising).

Now, true that this is specifically discussing the OLUG site, but in the
past the same guidelines went for the mailing list (IIRC). To allow “A”
but not “B” is a slippery slope; allow nothing or allow all of it. Then
when you allow all of it the list dies. I have seen it more than once on
the lists I used to be a member of.

Robert, do not apologise or lighten up. Blatant commercial advertising
(regardless of the purpose or intent) is not desired on this list. If I
wanted that, I would still be using the linux groups on USENET / NNTP.
