Yes.  I would like to thank Jay for catching my brainfart on iptables. 
I have never really done ANYTHING with it before besides the checkbox
upon installation of RH.  Thanx to you for pointing out what should have
been obvious!

Did you tell Squid to be "Transparent" ? If so it actually hooked into
the
network stack underneath of Apache.
