[olug] Xwindows RandR extension

Sure most of you saw this on /. a few months back. The RandR extension is
now in the latest X Windows. I just loaded SuSe9 on a system at home and
have been playing around with it. Basically, it lets you rotate and
resize your desktop on the fly. I got jealous of an employee of mine who
had 3 monitors under XP, one of them on an Nvidia card that let him tilt
the monitor 90 degress and work in portrait mode. Very nice for coding.

So I did this at home with 2 17" monitors. I like it, but 17" seems too
small for this (when on their sides, they seem too narrow). Also, the
randr extensions are mutually incompatable with Xinerama, so I can't drag
apps or windows across the screens.

I really like the Sax X frontend in Suse; I never had to touch my
XF86Config file.
