[olug] SquirrelMail?

Anyone have any experience with SquirrelMail, or with any other WebMail
software they'd recommend?

I'm having troubles getting SquirrelMail to work. After getting it set up
and configured, I attempt to login. The login page displays, but after
providing the user/passwd pair I get an error that says "Error opening
../data/default_pref". The following page is the only one I can find with a
Google search on the subject (at least that's in English):
http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/DataPermission. I've insured that
/var/lib/squirrelmail/prefs has perms of 700 and that
/var/lib/squirrelmail/prefs/default_pref has perms of 775 and the apache
owner/group, which is what they say to do for 1.2.5.

There is no /var/www/squirrelmail/data, though, so the rest of the
suggestions make no sense to me?!?

The other strange thing is that they talk rather consistently about ver
1.28, but rpm -q squirrelmail indicates:

squirrelmail-1.2.8-1mdk

taken directly from the Mandrake contrib repository, which I'd assume to be
the latest? In fact, the web site confirms this.

In any event, getting a webmail server up and running is nearly the last
obstacle I have to overcome in setting up a usable e-mail system, so I could
use any advice at this time.

Final system setup:  Postfix -> procmail -> fetchmail -> courier-imap ->
mutt (for command line client). Left to do is get a webmail server for
access from the outside world, and access from Outlook behind my firewall
for my wife. I expect the last one will be the easiest to accomplish :(.

Oh, and I'll likely through SpamAssassin at the whole thing as well.

Thanks,
Bill Kempf
