[olug] olug install fest - newbie howtos

If anyone has a really good understanding of how to get CD Burning working in Linux (scsi emulation - ide drives), I would appreciate a quick-clean linux independent howto on that. I am sure many newbies would too, its a critical hardware device these days, and I've had troubles.  I know the OLUG did a presentation on it onetime, (saw the ppt on the website) but it didn't help me much w/o interpretation.
