[olug] olug install fest - newbie howtos

I agree then everyone would have easy access to them...Brian was talking 
about me because I have not started because I don't know what to write it 
on...I have considered various options but rejected them as being uncommon 
(only know because I specifically needed the feature) or being to 
complicated.  Any ideas for what to write one on would be welcome.
