Hey OLUG Dudes,
I saw on the pictures of you last installfest what looked to be a DEC Alpha 3000 Model 900. Do any of you know if you can put linux on this machine? My research group has a couple of them and currently they have Tru64 on them (Ugh).

It's my understanding that the TurboChannel bussing doesn't have drivers, but FreeBSD can be installed in console mode (I even flirted with trying to install FreeBSD on one of them, but chicken out at the point where I needed a serial console). Can linux be installed on them in a similar manner? Is it worth the effort? I'd love to use one of these machines as a backup/file server (i.e. with Samba) but Tru64 just sucks...

Thanks,
Carl Lundstedt
