I have paid quite a bit of attention to the whole athlon / p4 debate.
AMD is going to mark future versions of its processors with a speed rating that is where they think it rates compared to p4. Reason for this P4 was designed for speed sacrificing performance. Fastest processor based on performance on market is P4 2gig second fastest based on performance is AMD 1.4 Gig. Not bad for missing 600mhz is it? Anyway I have heard of lots of problems with broken amd chips. they are covered though. Good luck. I love building systems but it can be quit the headache somedays. Troubleshooting is almost always required.
