I recomend you get your new ip from cox and use that.  The problem with coxes dhcp is that it assigns ips based on your machine name.  Linux dhcpc doesn't supply enough information.  I remember seeing directions to fix the problems somewhere but I really don't remember where.  Anyway they should have your new ip available.  You could also use a windows box to get the information.  Its dhcp works fine if you know your machine name.
