Use the Gimp (http://www.gimp.org) to create the logo. With a few good
images to provide the elements you need and a little selection, cut, and
paste, you could create a very cool logo very quickly. It's not hard
and there's plenty of documentation on the web. There's an annotated
list of online resources at http://www.gimp.org/docs.html. In
particular, check out the Gimp User's Manual at
http://manual.gimp.org/manual/GUM/GUM.html, there are tutorials at
http://www.gimp.org/tutorials.html, Michael J. Hammel's book "The
Artist's Guide to the Gimp" is helpful, and Carey Bunks' online book
"Grokking the Gimp" (http://gimp-savvy.com/BOOK/index.html) is supposed
to be excellent.

Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

Mark
