[OLUG] routing problems (Was: failures)

Well, I don't think that routing can't be the problem, either, because he
has been able to go to websites when using the IP address. It's a very weird
problem. Can't ping anything but 127.0.0.1 with any reply whether he uses
domain name or IP number, and can't browse with domain names at all.

OTOH, I could be missing something in this whole mess. I am assuming that
the sites he's been able to load are not cached. ;-) f this is his first
setup with linux/internet, I think this is a pretty safe assumption.

What I really want to know is why he can't ping the ISP's PPP peer. I was
able to ping it from my desk, so I don't think they're just ignoring ICMP
echo_requests (or whatever). Arrrrghhh!!!

Is it possible that the ISP is stripping out any such requests via-a-vis all
it's peers. Does anyone else use radiks with linux and are you able to ping
other sites and the PPP "server" at radiks?
