[olug] @home mail on a lan

I'm successfully surfing behind my firewall on my lan but can't send or
receive mail, netscape "can't find the server."  From what I can gather
cox at home uses a proxy server for mail.  My question, is it possible for me
to use their mail server in linux?  It seems I would have to set up the
computer behind my firewall to access the @home gateway and my firewall to
access this gateway also.  Am I thinking correctly about this?
